Tel's Closet was started in mid-March 2003 on eBay. It started out with me just decluttering my home of clothing, shoes and accessories that I had collected during my time as a model traveling along the East Coast from New York to Miami.
I decided to quit modeling some years later so I could spend more time with my son, it was then that I realized there was no way possible that I could or would wear 4 closets full of clothing. It was right around that same time that one of my girlfriends in NYC (also a model) told me about eBay. I decided to give it a try and was instantly hooked. Not only did I downsize my closets, but I also got requests for other sizes and assistance with putting together outfits. This kicked off another hidden passion - to help others be the best dressed they could be without the retail sticker shock. Soon I was traveling here and there during the weekends scouring stores, boutiques and such buying for others and for resell.
Here we are today, 8 years later and Tel's_Closet is still going strong in it's efforts to bring designer labels, better named brands and unique looking items to everyone at prices that won't break the bank.
As a single mom to an 20 year old college freshman, and 14 month old, I know that times are hard and if possible, we do our best to cut corners where necessary without sacrificing our lifestyles too much in the process. Which is where my pledge to you comes in - that I do the best I can to find the best prices, the best items so that we can all feel good about ourselves. Nothing makes us feel great like something new (even if it isn't exactly brand new but who is going to know if we don't tell them?!) LOL. ;-)
